Case Presentation Patient 1 A 23-year-old woman was evaluated for hypertension in 1980. Six years previously an autonomous adenoma had been removed during a parathyroid exploration. At operation, her blood pressure ranged between 120/80 and 130/90 mm Hg. During a routine gynecological examination one year before the evaluation for hypertension, her blood pressure was recorded as 145/90 mm Hg. She was given birth control pills to regulate menstrual irregularity. Four months later, her blood pressure ranged between 150 to 160 mm Hg systolic and 110 to 120 mm Hg diastolic. Subsequent measurements revealed peak systolic blood pressure of 180 mm Hg and peak diastolic blood pressure of 120 mm Hg. Evaluation at that time revealed normal serum electrolyte values, chest
